Employment
The licensed boutique brothel industry in Queensland offers many employment opportunities in what the Queensland Government has described as an industry equivalent in size to the sugar industry.
Some typical roles available in boutique brothels include:
- Manager: Managers must undergo strict probity checking by the Prostitution Licensing Authority and the Queensland Police to qualify for certification as a manager. Licenses must be renewed each year and a fee is payable. This role is a high responsibility one and includes full control of the premises and the operations of the business. Managers are typically required to posses a senior first aid certificate and to have attended a sexual health workshop.
- Receptionist: This role involves greeting and communicating with guests and accepting and monitoring room hire bookings.
- Cleaner: This role generally involves thorough cleaning of the premises including the amenities, spas, showers, fittings and fixtures. It requires some flexibility if the premises are operating 24 per day.
- Security: Where this role exists, it involves the monitoring of guest behaviour and intercession where required.
Other roles may exist in some boutique brothels depending on the scope of their operations, i.e. some have laundries and may require laundry hands while others may employ hostesses to entertain guests during busy periods.
